What Makes Us Different?

One respite child at a time

One guest means focused attention and care shaped around your child’s needs.

Familiar routines

Share your child’s daily schedule, comfort items, and preferences so we can help them feel settled.

A welcoming family home

Children join everyday family life, with space to rest, play, and enjoy a gentle camp experience.

Complex medical respite that supports the whole family

You can love your child deeply and still need a break. Around-the-clock medical care and interrupted sleep can leave caregivers exhausted. A short-term, overnight stay at Echo Glade gives your child individualized nursing care while you have time to sleep, recover, handle a family emergency, or spend time with loved ones.

You do not have to wait until caregiver burnout feels unmanageable to ask about respite.

Support for many kinds of families

We welcome inquiries from:

  • Families arranging a stay privately.
  • Families whose child receives services through Alta California Regional Center or Far Northern Regional Center.
  • Families with adopted children.
  • Parents caring for their child at home, including families involved with CPS.
  • Families recently reunified with their child after a CPS placement.
  • Nonrelative foster families, grandparents, and other extended-family caregivers of a child placed through CPS.

Experienced nursing care for complex medical needs

Care needs we can discuss include:

  • Tube feeding and specialized oral feeding.
  • Tracheostomy, ventilator, oxygen, suctioning, and other respiratory care.
  • Central lines, ports, IV infusions, and TPN.
  • Ostomy, bowel management, and urinary catheter care.
  • Seizure and diabetes care, wounds, mobility, positioning, and monitoring equipment.

Every stay begins with an individual review of your child’s care plan, routines, equipment, and support needs. We confirm care arrangements, any required authorizations, payment arrangements, and available dates together.

For Professionals Supporting Families

Public health nurses, CPS workers, regional center service coordinators, and other healthcare professionals are welcome to discuss respite for a family caring for a child with complex medical needs. We can review the child’s care needs, caregiver concerns, and any required referral or authorization steps together. Families may also contact Heidi directly.
